TL;DR :Overall, it's a decent game with great visuals and works well as a "play for a couple hours at a sitting" arcade game. Some of the mission types are a little ugly and grinding, some are great, but in general it's more fun than not.Full Review:I have about 28 hours of playtime during the Beta weekend in addition to the hours playing the release version, so this review takes some of that into account as well.The beta weekend was a blast (no pun intended). There were only a handful of mission types available: Data Heist, Interceptor, and Escort. Of these, the Escort mission is basically a cash grab, and so far that hasn't changed much. It's a quick way to build a stockpile for buying stuff if played the right way; that still needs to be fixed. Interceptor was where the game really shines for an explosion-fest, which was what made the Beta so much fun. Right now, the production release has lost a little of that fun, but there are still plenty of epic explosions to be had.There's more variation in the game, more mission types to play, but it starts to have a bit of a grind feel to it. The AI needs some tweaking; especially in places where it takes advantage of your inability to do a U-turn and attack cars that are hanging back and hiding from you. There are some car types you use that have no turret, so cleaning up stuff behind you is annoying in this case. Judicious use of your brakes and mines mitigates this to some extent, but makes those situations more work than fun.It also feels like some engine optimization could still be done to streamline play. I have to dial my video settings down in order to play, which is unfortunate, but also expected (the only Windows system I have is a Dell Latitude E7450 laptop), so I'll never be able to crank up the visuals. I'm hoping there's some optimization that will make that better. If you have a system that can handle it, the environment is beautiful. There are a lot of hidden gems in the landscape that are worth stopping to take a look. I know this because they included a high-res screenshot capability with a free-camera mode; take advantage of it, it's worth the look.It's not all doom and gloom, though. The gameplay is smooth, the Command mode concept makes for some interesting interaction, and if you play primarily with hotkeys, you get a very fluid experience. I found over time that Command Mode is less necessary as you get used to how things work, too, but it's really nice to have when there's a lot going on. One of the interesting things is mission mutators. They add some flavor to help keep the monotony level down a bit by changing how things work. Make enemies harder to kill, easier to kill, and generally screw with you. If you really want to push yourself, you can voluntarily "cripple" yourself by buying fuzzy dice that effectively make everything you do weak, and everything the enemy does monstrous. It's an interesting idea if you like a challenge.The world humor is done well, too. There are a lot of amusing bits sprinkled all over the place; in the mission details, in the "Z-mails" explaining what's happening, and so on. The game physics gets a little crazy with some of the explosions, sending cars waaaaaayy further than it should. Some of the weirdness is epic to watch, and the explosions are often beautiful.After getting a few more hours in, and seeing more of the story that's buried in the game, I've found it to be more enjoyable as I play. There's a purpose to some of the grinding that is not unwarranted, and I've found myself more engaged at 8 hours than I did at 3; wondering what the next part of the story was going to be. That was unexpected, and welcome.Overall, it's a decent game with great visuals and works well as a "play for a couple hours at a sitting" arcade game. Absent are aspect of the boardgame such as different vehicle types and plenty of options for weapon mounting locations. Equipment via the shop is scarce, I suppose that's trying to fit the post-apocalyptic setting, but one of the things I was looking forward to was designing my vehicle from brakes, tyres and armour types and minutiae of weapon selection, balancing weight and engine with perofrmance. I get little of interest to buy apart from items to make armour or weapons a little better.Roads seem to be always 4 lanes, no way to turn around (not that there's much reason to), no hint of the handling risks or planning your drive from the original. I like that retro font, but the graphics overall are disappointing.Sadly it plays like an 80s joystick arcade game, not a 2019 new development. 6\/10 at best, get it on sale for an evening's play. I'll play more, but after an hour or so it gets dull, fast.Update - also crashed just as I was picking a mission.Update after a couple more hours, some improvements in payouts and equipment available, but no change to gameplay apart from occasional mutators on missions.Further update - after a couple more hours into a run, it says my save is out of date and I have to restart. Great. 3\/10.. 100 % sure this is not for everyone...but if you like rogue-like game mechanics, car combat and tactic games, you should give it a try.i like if devs make games with mechanics outside the box, even if it is not perfect or comfortable. so they nailed it with good ideas.it's not a game to get sunken, but for now and then doing 1 or 2 runs (like mostly all rogue-like games) a good choice. not the hardest game in my libary, but far from easy...not for casual mainstream gamers, but indylovers and hardcore gamers will mostly like it and should give it a try. it's worth it.... The idea might have been a good one but it turns out that the execution was another thing entirely. The car designed around ramming doesn't really click since ramming is \u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665ed and rarely does anything, all the missions are timed,which really doesn't work when you can go up to a minute without seeing any enemies, and the way you control your car is more fiddly than an actual car.Hired OP is basically useless because Form up is a janky thing, and the missiles are very RNG on if they are actually going to hit the guy twenty foot in front of you or just spazz out and go wherever.
